Winnie the Pooh

Elizabeth had her first movie theater experience today. We went with her friend, Grace. I think they both enjoyed it, but who wouldn't love an hour of tv after picking your favorite candy to eat? They did really well during the movie. Following the movie was another story. Elizabeth threw a nice fit when we got to the car because she wanted to "walk herself" meaning she didn't want to hold my hand crossing the street and walking in the parking lot. For some reason she's been in a phase where she needs to do everything herself and if she thinks she doesn't then it's not a good things. Last week, the result was a broken pair of sunglasses. She may look small, but the wrath of Elizabeth is mighty.

Typical Snack Time

Just another snack time at the Rohlings. Sarah hanging out in her toy with a mum-mum cracker and Elizabeth eating some cheese and crackers. It's getting hard to eat in front of Sarah without her wanting some, too - and, Elizabeth has been like that for a long time. I need to learn to snack on liver and onions or something.

In case you forgot their sizes...

Pebbles

Everything is growing on Sarah's body, including her hair. So, they put it in a little pony at daycare this week. She looks so sweet! Now, if we could only get her to stop rubbing every meal in her sweet hair, we'd be set. Sarah is a messy eater for sure.

They really do love each other

Sibling rivalry, no, not here. Since Sarah is a little bigger, we let E play with her a little more rough...and this is what happens. I guess we shouldn't plan on E babysitting any time soon.

Hungry?

The next Top Chef!

Happy Fathers' Day, Daddy!

Elizabeth did a portrait of her daddy for fathers' day. What do you think? Does she have potential?

Pilot Day

June 18 was Pilot day at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, so we all made the trip. We had a great time and they had lots of kid-friendly activities that Elizabeth could enjoy (even Sarah liked dressing up with her scarf). We saw lots of airplanes and saw the inside of a few.

Should we be scared of this face?

Sarah is really on the move and getting everywhere that isn't baby friendly. Her favorite spot is going for the tv area. As you can see from this picture, her daddy was saying "Sarah, what are you doing." See that little devilish grin? It might be something to watch out for in a few years.

COSI Exploring

Grandma and Grandpa took everyone to COSI for the day. It was a super fun day and there was something for everyone which was nice. They even had some things for Sarah to do in the play area. Elizabeth and Ally had a lot of fun together. We topped the day off with lunch at the spaghetti warehouse and naps on the ride home for Elizabeth and Sarah.

Riding on the Boat - Times Two

In June, we went to Ohio to stay with Grandma and Grandpa for the week. We enjoyed some time on the boat, playing in the yard and a couple of dips in the "mud" (what Elizabeth calls the lake). I think we kept G & G on their toes, but they told us it was a lot of fun...who couldn't love tea parties and dancing with Grandma and going with Grandpa for the morning paper (and picking up a couple of donuts). We're thankful for any opportunity to spend time with them since we aren't able to see them all the time.

We're Back

Hopefully this cute baby face will help you forgive us for the lapse in postings. I guess we've been caught up in living life...work, play and a couple of trips. Sarah is crawling around everywhere and still such a sweet girl. She's generally happy and smiling. You can see how much she already looks up to her big sister and wants to move around like her. And, Elizabeth knows how to get Sarah giggling. My hope for them is that they'll be best friends for a long time.

On Wednesday it was raining...

...so we went to the aquarium. Caitlyn didn't like the divers, but Elizabeth gave them a high-five. Sarah was starting to show signs of her cold, so she wasn't the happiest baby on the block.

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

One of my favorite times of year...BJ's older. He's the old man! This year, Daddy got to celebrate his birthday at the beach. We had a good dinner and some ice cream cake. Of course in Elizabeth's eyes, no party is complete without party hats, so we had a couple of those, too!

Then, when the kids went to bed, the real fun began! We had a steamer pot which in our case had lots of crab legs, potatoes and corn on the cob. We also had to get some hush puppies with our order.

Moving on up

With vacation coming next week, we decided it was finally time to invest in a booster seat. Elizabeth has been in the high chair since she was eating. It's was time for Sarah to take that seat and for Elizabeth to move to the table in a booster. She loves her new seat and hasn't looked back to the high chair once. I think Sarah likes the new digs, too! So, this is what dinner looks like at our house now.

Good day, Washington, DC

We were able to get a couple more shots of Elizabeth with her Goodnight Washington, DC book. We're hoping to get photos at every spot in the book and then make her a version of her own. We made it to the Natural History museum, Washington monument and the White House. We saw plenty of other sights the next day, but with the rain, I didn't take the camera. We'll be back this summer to work through the book more.

the shoemakers' turn!

They look sweet, right? Boy, do they have you fooled!

Cousins, cousins, we're not identical cousins

Riding on the train, we're riding on the train

Greg, Jen, Jacob and Ally came to visit during spring break this year. We started the trip riding on the metro into the city. The kids thought it was pretty cool. As you can see, the cousins had a lot of fun together.

Snuggling Sisters

Enjoying some cartoons in the morning together on the couch. What a great way to start a day!

Cousin Hannah Visits

We were lucky enough to have a visit from our cousin Hannah on BJ's side. She's in the area for training and came over to our house last weekend for a night. The girls had a lot of fun with her and hopefully she did with them, too! We love to visit with family!

We're going to the zoo, zoo, how about you, you?

We spent Sunday afternoon at the zoo with Grandma and Grandpa. It was a little cold and overcast, but we had a good time seeing the animals. We saw some pandas, elephants, lions and cubs (E does a great lion roar), small mammals, zebras and the best was the orangutan swinging from the wires above us. We've been to the zoo a few times, but this is the first time they've been climbing around on them. It's like something from Jurassic Park. We enjoyed a picnic lunch of turkey wraps, chips and grapes and made it home by 2pm for a good nap.Elizabeth also had her first cotton candy experience...she liked it (did you doubt it)! Sarah was great during our adventure. She rode in the stroller mostly, but for a little while she got to see everything from the baby bjorn carrier. Then, dad had to put her to sleep in his arms at lunch time. The fresh air was good for all of us!

Elizabeth taking the must-get "zoo" photo with her Goodnight Washington, DC book - thanks Shannon and Nathan! She is really into that book right now and going to Washington, DC (little does she realize we live in the suburbs...guess it seems as far to her now as it does to you guys!)

Who's that monkey in the window?

Mmmm...cotton candy - Elizabeth picked blue over pink

Sarah likes to ride in style!
